Brazing winding wire connections

Brazing winding wire connections in the construction of large transformers is a preferred field of application for inductive heating. In the example shown, around 2400 connections consisting of 12.5-mm x 2.5-mm copper wire insulated with cable paper are brazed using butt joints. The cable paper is unwrapped by about 40 mm, and the butt joint is prepared with the filler-metal intermediate layer. During brazing, the insulated inductor is placed directly onto the brazing point by hand and the generator is activated for 2 to 3 sec. using the switch on the coaxial handheld transformer. The filler metal flows smoothly, and the brazing point requires no further rework.

System description:
The use of a mobile inductive heating system with cooling water recooler is particularly advisable for brazing winding wire connections on large transformer windings, because this system unit allows workplaces to be changed rapidly.
The system used here consists of the eldec MFG 10 and the matching cooling water recooler. During the preparation work for brazing, the coaxial transformer with inductor is suspended on the balancer. It is manually guided to the part to be brazed.
